"A “gem” in the Gem City
I’m a trailing spouse. My wife and I moved back here 5 years ago. I say “back” because she’s originally from Quincy. I grew up in Chicago.
Notwithstanding our wonderful extended family, there’s one place that’s made me feel at home in this community more than any other - the Quincy Racquet and Pickleball Center (QRPBC)! It rivals clubs I have played at across the country in much bigger cities, and at a fraction of the cost. I have played tennis at QRPBC as a guest for 30 years (with my father-in-law) and as a member for 5 years.
Had it not been for QRPBC, my integration, community connections, and sanity would have all suffered. It’s a community within our community and goes out of its way to be inviting and accessible to everyone who comes through the door.
First and foremost tennis and pickleball are a blast! Second, it’s a great way to meet people, so c’mon out and join us. Maybe we’ll run into each other and you can tell me about your partner who grew up in Quincy…

The Quincy Racquet Club has been a fantastic “quality of life” asset to Northeast Missouri and West Central Illinois for 51 years. All of our five children, as well as our extended family, have benefited from lessons and drills at QRC. It is hard to imagine a more valuable gift for a child than to enable a lifetime of tennis.
When our children come home with their spouses, they are still eager to book cardio time at QRC—it is such a fun family activity and a way to get some great exercise over the holidays, and they talk about it for hours afterwards.
My wife continues to play at The Racquet Club several times each week, even during the winter months, which allows her to stay fit and frisky while enjoying a great sport, terrific companionship, and excellent instruction by Monica and Todd.
The Racquet Club has developed numerous kids into competitive tennis players, enriching the children’s lives, enabling scholarships, and adding to the expertise of high school tennis teams in Quincy, Hannibal and Palmyra--most of the advanced players on these teams have taken advantage of the instruction and drills provided by QRC.
My wife and I advise all the young players who dream of playing varsity tennis, and all the “older folk” that haven’t learned to play and wish they had, that they need to start at the Quincy Racquet Club. Monica and Todd really care about their players’ progress, and will match you up with others who play at your level, or who are beginners like you, so you don’t have to worry about getting in with players who are levels better than you are.
For the past two decades, I have told anyone who would listen that Monica and Todd are worth $350.00 per hour for tennis instruction, and, although they don’t charge anything near that, I would still feel like I had gotten a bargain at that price.
